Sometimes,

when you are lost

in your own head

the easiest way out

was the way you came in.

Sometimes

there is no easy way out.

Sometimes

the difficulty

in trying to get yourself out,

is when you know

you can't by yourself.

Sometimes

you refuse the help

that can get you out.

Sometimes

you give up hope too easily.

Sometimes

are all the times

for somebody.

That somebody

used to be me.



...embrace the random...

I enjoy taking photographs. I have been doing it on and off for over twenty years. As with most "artists", I abide by certain self imposed rules as to my "art."

I, for the most part, do not take pictures of people. Don't let it sound like I am a hermit, or a loner. I enjoy people; in fact most of my friends are people.

I do, however, take picutres of the remenants of people's actions.  More often than not, those are more interesting than the people themselves.

My faith in Mankind is often shaken by what I see on TV, the internet and even good old fashion print media. But I can always reflect back on the good random things I have seen left behind by people. People who restore my faith, one.... picture... at.... a... time.....

May (you realize) you live in interesting times......

     I am a tick of the clock shy of forty, and consider myself a witness to some of the most amazing events in history. While it may not seem as amazing as the Industrial Revolution or the Renaissance; with the advances I've lived through in medicine, science, history and technology, it is still pretty amazing times.
     I've been witness to the birth of nations, the return of actual pirates, and reusable spaceships. I've seen pictures that show the birth of the universe, (how the birth occured is still in a realm I do not understand) and the death of a star. I've read words that inspire, motivate, shock, revolt, anger, and soothe; both on paper and an electronic screen.
     If you are reading this, you too have been witness (albeit, some of you unknowingly) to some amazing events. With the the history of the known universe at your fingertips; thanks to the internet revolution, you should take the time and explore the interseting times you live in, and explore the intersting times those before you lived. You never know; while history is destine to repeat itself, you may be inspired to change the course of history yourself.
